Travel Info
Approaching Cirencester from the A417/A419 bypass you head into town on the A429 Burford Road to a roundabout on the ring road. Take the road ahead, signed to the town centre (London Road) and soon turn right at the traffic lights for the Waterloo long stay car park (pay and display). Free parking on Sundays.
Navigation
Leave the car park by the vehicle entrance, mount the kerb on foot bearing right to follow the footpath beside the river and around the back of some apartments. Turn right to cross the river into the Abbey Grounds and then left along the path to the church, one of the finest in the Cotswolds.
After the church turn right into Gosditch Street, 1 which soon becomes Dollar Street, and continue straight along into Gloucester Street. Past Powell school and before the Nelson pub turn left into Barton Lane 2 and continue past the playing fields.
Ignore the footpath on the left to the outdoor pool and take the next left. Continue straight on through the wooden gates into Cirencester Park, 3 part of the Bathurst Estate. (The park is usually open from 8am to 5pm, charge applies)
Once in the park turn left in front of the rather grand barn and follow the wide path along to the end where you turn right into Broad Drive. 4 Continue to the gazebo on the right (and as far as 700 metres beyond if you wish) before turning round and returning past the point where you joined the drive and out into Cecily Hill via the main park gates. 5
At the bottom of Cecily Hill turn left into Park Street and almost immediately turn left again 6 into Riverside Walk signposted for the outdoor pool. Follow the footpath past the pool and at the end turn right into Barton Lane and retrace your route back to the car park.
