Navigation

(1) Walk towards the Heritage Centre at the corner of the Chipping Car Park and then along Market Street. At the end of the street, turn right down Long Street then left along Church Street.

(2) On reaching the War Memorial roundabout, turn right and follow the road downhill.

(3) Just past the turning to Britannia Mews, take the footpath on the left (Marchesi Walk) and follow the stream. At the end of this section of path, turn right (bottom of Valley Road) then continue along the footpath, which is now the Cotswold Way.

(4) On reaching the picnic area at Holywell Leaze, turn right then immediately left to continue along the streamside path.

(5) At the end of the path, turn left, then right at the junction next to the pumping station and follow the right hand fork. After 250 metres, after a house called Morningside, take a signposted footpath on the left, go through the kissing gate at the top and follow the path through the field past Coombe Lakes.

(6) At the end of the path turn left onto a track and follow this until you reach the lane. Turn left then right through the quiet hamlet of Coombe. On reaching the next junction, turn right and after 100m or so along a sunken roadway there is a left turn at the next junction.

(7) A seat at the top of the hill gives you chance to catch your breath and admire the lovely view across Wotton. Cross Coombe Road and follow the path uphill until you reach a kissing gate on the left. Go through the gate then follow the path round the top of Coombe Hill, which offers magnificent views across Wotton and the Severn Vale.

(8) Turn right and cross a stile then follow the track along the edge of the woods. Take first path on the left then the right turn leading steeply down through the woods and follow this until you reach Adey’s Lane.

(9) On reaching Adey’s Lane, turn left. After 100m or so go through the gate to your right and proceed down the hill through the Streamsfield area along the obvious path. At the end of this path there is a boggy area to transverse, then turn left and take the fenced path which takes you along the edge of a housing estate. On reaching a road (Parklands), proceed straight over up the opposite steep footpath aiming towards the spire of the disused church which houses Wotton Auction Rooms and emerging onto Tabernacle Pitch, walk down the hill and across the main road onto Bear Street. Turn left down High Street then right onto Market Street to return to the start of the walk.
