Route description

Starting from the Upper Castle Combe Car Park (80p all day charge) we follow the Macmillan Way through woods to reach the hamlet of Long Dean and then the pretty village of Ford. We then return to Castle Combe along the other bank of the Bybrook through picturesque beech woods.

You could then either choose to end the walk in one of the pubs in Castle Combe (reservation recommended if staying for lunch) or continue with a climb back to the car park and starting point.

  • Please wear weather-appropriate footwear and clothing for walking; maybe a spare jumper and/or waterproof
  • Please bring a drink and a snack
  • The day before a walk, please check to ensure it is still running – and for any exceptional weather forecasts / warnings
  • All walk leaders are appropriately trained and have basic first-aid skills
  • Assistance dogs (on short leads) are welcome
  • Guided walks with the Wardens are free, but we welcome donations to help us sustain our work across the Cotswolds National Landscape.
