Route description

The aptly named ‘walker’s car park’ above the famous Painswick Rococo Garden marks the start and finish of this short but invigorating romp across the Painswick Golf Course. It’s a chance to admire the views from the Beacon fort standing 283m above sea level. If the weather is kind, we should enjoy views over the city of Gloucester and the Vale of Severn towards the Forest of Dean and the Black Mountains of Wales. Then we will follow the footpaths through Pope’s Wood and Kites’ Hill. An early chance to blow away the Yuletide cobwebs and keep any New Year fitness resolutions.

  • Please wear weather-appropriate footwear and clothing for walking
  • Please bring a drink, a snack, and sunscreen
  • The day before a walk, please check to ensure it is still running – and for any exceptional weather forecasts / warnings
  • All walk leaders are appropriately trained and have basic first-aid skills
  • Assistance dogs (on short leads) are welcome
  • Guided walks with the Wardens are free, but we welcome donations to help us sustain our work across the Cotswolds National Landscape.

Organised by: Cotswold Voluntary Wardens
