Escaping the Prison across the fields

An easy walk staring from the Old Prison at Northleach, and over to Hampnett. There we turn south and walk along two long distance paths, returning across the fields to the Prison.  A quiet walk along less well known paths.

Route description

The walk is fairly flat with one short slope and one stone stile along the way.  We walk on well kept paths through Hampnett, stopping to admire the church and then into the countryside where walkers tend not to stray.

Please wear weather-appropriate footwear and clothing for walking

  • Please bring a drink, a snack, and sunscreen
  • The day before a walk, please check to ensure it is still running – and for any exceptional weather forecasts / warnings
  • All walk leaders are appropriately trained and have basic first-aid skills
  • Assistance dogs (on short leads) are welcome
  • Guided walks with the Wardens are free, but we welcome donations to help us sustain our work across the Cotswolds National Landscape.
