Route description

The walk passes through Whittington before ascending the higher ground that separates it from Brockhampton. Descending from here, the entrance to Brockhampton Hall is passed and the route continues along the valley for a short distance before ascending in a south west direction. From the top, the descent goes directly toward Andoversford. The route comprises footpaths, bridle ways and minor roads.
We will pass the site of a Roman Villa and a medieval village just before Whittington. On the higher ground on the way to Brockhampton the rectilinear nature of the field boundaries provide some good examples of eighteenth and nineteenth century enclosure practice.
