Route description

We start at Hangman’s Stone where there is a large area of roadside parking and walk along the Macmillan Way to the estate village of Yanworth, A quiet lane takes us to a super stretch of the Monarch’s Way and the River Coln between Stowell and Yanworth Mills. Some lane walking brings us to Fossebridge and another crossing of the Coln.. We will then have a gentle climb through a disused army camp and skirt the edge of Stowell Park with expansive views opening up. A short climb brings us back to the Monarch’s Way, Oxpens Farm and Hangmans Stone.
The many excellent cafes and pubs in historic Northleach are only 2 miles from the parking area. Northleach Church is well worth a visit.
