CNL60 Forest and Frescos

A beautiful summer walk through The Wychwood Forest before heading towards Chilson and Shorthampton to see the frescos in the Shorthampton Church and then lunch in Charlbury. After lunch we walk though the Cornbury Estate returning to Finstock.

Route description

A 10 mile walk with wonderful views of The Cotswolds. Starting at Finstock and walking through two sections of the Wychwood Forest. After an hour or so we will stop for a short coffee break. Then on to Shorthampton enjoying the glorious Cotswolds views, briefly stopping at  Shorthampton church to view the frescos before heading to Charlbury for lunch. The final part of our walk goes through the Cornbury estate returning to Finstock.

  • Please wear weather-appropriate footwear and clothing for walking
  • Please bring a drink, a snack, and sunscreen
  • The day before a walk, please check to ensure it is still running – and for any exceptional weather forecasts / warnings
  • All walk leaders are appropriately trained and have basic first-aid skills
  • Assistance dogs (on short leads) are welcome
  • Guided walks with the Wardens are free, but we welcome donations to help us sustain our work across the Cotswolds National Landscape.
