What is Freshwater Focus?
Freshwater Focus builds upon the success of the Everyone’s Evenlode project and our work with the Evenlode Catchment Partnership, expanding our work to connect more people with the rivers, streams and wetlands that shape the landscape in and around the Cotswolds. We enable people of all ages and backgrounds to explore, understand and care for their local freshwater environments through meaningful, hands-on experiences. Freshwater Focus is currently funded by DEFRA’s Water Restoration Fund, and additional community donations.
Who do we work with?
We aim to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to access, enjoy and learn from the freshwaters of the Cotswolds.
We work with schools, community groups and partner organisations to deliver a wide range of activities that improve access to freshwater environments and remove barriers to participation. Alongside this, we develop resources, share knowledge and explore new approaches to learning and engagement, helping to enhance the future of freshwater education and community involvement.
Our Freshwater Focus outreach opportunities include:
- Guided walks exploring rivers
- Training Geography PGCE students
- School visits to local rivers
- Loaning specialist equipment to schools and groups
- Knowledge exchange events sharing skills and best practice
- Community talks, events and local engagement activities
- Citizen science opportunities
