Route description

A circular walk starting at the ancient pub The Highway Man. We head off to Caudle Green with its honey – coloured stone cottages. From there we continue on to Brimpsfield with its Norman castle remains. The manor of Brimpsfield was was granted to Maurice de Berkeley in 1339 by King Edward III. On the way back we pass by the village of Syde before we arrive back at the Highway Man for a well earned break.

  • Please wear weather-appropriate footwear and clothing for walking
  • Please bring a drink, a snack, and sunscreen
  • The day before a walk, please check to ensure it is still running – and for any exceptional weather forecasts / warnings
  • All walk leaders are appropriately trained and have basic first-aid skills
  • Assistance dogs (on short leads) are welcome
  • Guided walks with the Wardens are free, but we welcome donations to help us sustain our work across the Cotswolds National Landscape.
