Route description

Have you ever wanted to walk one of the many Self Guided Walks on the Cotswold CNL website? Have you felt trepidatious about undertaking such a task? Let us help to make it easier for you with this guided, self guided walk!

The walk starts at the old quarry car park near the Golf Club. Grab yourself a hot drink at the clubhouse and register your number plate which pays for parking if you wish. We make our way along the Cotswold Way as far as Postlip Hall before branching off towards the wash pool. Then we aim for the ‘Solitary Tree’ on the hilltop and the Hill fort where we re-join the Cotswold Way. From Cleeve Cloud we make our way North to the Topograph, from which, if the weather behaves itself, we should be blessed by wonderful views West over the Severn Vale towards the Malvern Hills and Wales. From there we will return to the Quarry car park. Numerous places are available for food and drink in the area. Please book in advance if you intend dining at the Golf Club. Please wear weather-appropriate footwear and clothing for walking

  • Please bring a drink, a snack, and sunscreen
  • The day before a walk, please check to ensure it is still running – and for any exceptional weather forecasts / warnings
  • All walk leaders are appropriately trained and have basic first-aid skills
  • Assistance dogs (on short leads) are welcome
  • Guided walks with the Wardens are free, but we welcome donations to help us sustain our work across the Cotswolds National Landscape.
