Route description

An interesting start at a secret riverside garden before crossing the River Avon, then through the National Trust’s Bathampton Meadows. We climb to the old Tin Church then to the top of Little Solsbury Hill with extensive views over Bath.

We then descend a little way before a steady climb to the historic airfield of Charmy Down. After crossing the airfield plateau we descend to Northend passing Eagle House, a suffragette retreat, and then back to our start point at Batheaston.
Please bring refreshments. The walk starts at the riverside car park in Batheaston, BA1
7NB.  Please don’t park here, as it’s time limited and short of spaces – there’s on-street
parking in the area and further along the London Road.
Toilets are available in Batheaston, 20p, there is a bus stop at the start/finish with frequent
buses from Bath. Refreshments can be bought from local cafes and shops in Batheaston.
