Route description

A scenic countryside walk across undulating paths and glorious views around Chipping Norton. Part of the route is along a saltway, passing a BBOT nature reserve where hopefully we will see the golden shades of the field maple. A short coffee stop after about 1.5 hours at Old Chalford on the lakeside, before walking along the Glyme Valley towards Over Norton. We will also have an opportunity to see a bronze age round barrow and walk past the castle mound at Chipping Norton.

There are lots of hostelries for refreshment in the town at the end of the walk.

  • Please wear weather-appropriate footwear and clothing for walking
  • Please bring a drink, a snack, and sunscreen
  • The day before a walk, please check to ensure it is still running – and for any exceptional weather forecasts / warnings
  • All walk leaders are appropriately trained and have basic first-aid skills
  • Assistance dogs (on short leads) are welcome
  • Guided walks with the Wardens are free, but we welcome donations to help us sustain our work across the Cotswolds National Landscape.
