Route description

Starting at Cleeve Hill Golf Club, we climb and skirt the escarpment enjoying superb views of Cheltenham and beyond. At the radio masts we head towards the tranquil woodland of Breakheart Plantation and Woodpeckers Wood. We skirt the historic 17th Century Postlip Hall before a gentle climb back to the golf club. Here you can enjoy refreshments. Pay and display parking is available. This walk is available as a self guided walk “Cleeve Hill Common Ring” but here you have the opportunity to explore in the company of others and in reverse order

  • Please wear weather-appropriate footwear and clothing for walking
  • Please bring a drink, a snack, and sunscreen
  • The day before a walk, please check to ensure it is still running – and for any exceptional weather forecasts / warnings
  • All walk leaders are appropriately trained and have basic first-aid skills
  • Assistance dogs (on short leads) are welcome
  • Guided walks with the Wardens are free, but we welcome donations to help us sustain our work across the Cotswolds National Landscape.

    Parking is available at the bottom end of the Golf Club car park or in the quarry car park further up the lane, across the cattle grid, turn left then right. THERE IS A CHARGE FOR USING EITHER CAR PARK AND YOU MUST PAY AT THE MACHINE ON THE SIDE OF THE CLUBHOUSE WALL. The payment can be redeemed in the clubhouse if purchasing food or drinks.
