Route description

A figure-of-eight walk from Leafield along ancient tracks, including two mentioned in an Anglo-Saxon charter, with some fine open views across the countryside towards Witney. Easy walking on good paths and lanes, no hills and only two stiles. Bring refreshments for a mid-morning stop.

The Fox at Leafield serves drinks (not food) or for lunch, the Swan at Ascott-under-Wychwood and the Plough at Finstock are both near by.

  • Please wear weather-appropriate footwear and clothing for walking
  • Please bring a drink, a snack, and sunscreen
  • The day before a walk, please check to ensure it is still running – and for any exceptional weather forecasts / warnings
  • All walk leaders are appropriately trained and have basic first-aid skills
  • Assistance dogs (on short leads) are welcome
  • Guided walks with the Wardens are free, but we welcome donations to help us sustain our work across the Cotswolds National Landscape.
