Route description

This is one of the bi-monthly Saturday walks from the village, this time on Marshfield Village Day.

We meet in the Market Place of this medieval sheep town before walking along the High Street to the 17th century Almshouses and Toll House. We then take bridleways and footpaths (one stile) down to the St Catherine Valley where we pause for a snack/drink to admire the view (and the quiet).

Returning mainly on footpaths (some stiles) we will arrive in time to view the Village Day procession; the opportunity to partake of lunch (four venues); – and stay for the Show and stalls on the Withymead Recreation ground.

  • Please wear weather-appropriate footwear and clothing for walking
  • Please bring a drink, a snack, and sunscreen
  • The day before a walk, please check to ensure it is still running – and for any exceptional weather forecasts / warnings
  • All walk leaders are appropriately trained and have basic first-aid skills
  • Assistance dogs (on short leads) are welcome
  • Guided walks with the Wardens are free, but we welcome donations to help us sustain our work across the Cotswolds National Landscape.
