Quintessential North Cotswolds

A delightful walk, with everything you might expect from a Cotswold Walk: views, villages, woods, an historic church (and a steep climb!), all in under five miles. We may even glimpse the GWSR steam train travelling through the summer countryside.

Route description

The walk begins with a flat stroll to the nearby village of Laverton, then we turn and begin a stiff climb up the escarpment to meet the Cotswold Way as it makes its way to Broadway, turning back to admire the views west to the Malverns and beyond. After a short distance, we leave the Way, taking a delightful path downwards with views to the North and to Broadway Tower in the East. We return to Buckland via a shady wood and even catch a glimpse of Cleeve Hill in the South.  As we enter Buckland, you will have the opportunity to visit the historic church of St Michael, a mostly 14th and 15th century building, which contains an unusual collection of artefacts of historic interest.

Please bring a drink/snack and plenty of water if it is hot.

Please park considerately in the village.  We will meet at the church gate.
