Route description

The walk explores the different environments of the country park including beech woods, species-rich grassland and wood-pasture. In addition the route goes through a major archaeological site featuring neolithic, iron age and post-roman features. At this time of year there should be abundant wild flowers.
This is another of our series of Shorter and Steadier walks to introduce new walkers to the splendour of our glorious countryside and the sheer joy of walking in the countryside.
These shorter walks will be at a gentler pace for those who fear that most Wardens’ Guided Walks may be a bit challenging. They will also be ideal for anyone wanting to regain fitness after a health setback.
