After leaving Sherston we follow the White Walls Way through woods, field paths and bridleways to Luckington and then to Alderton for a mid-morning coffee break. The walk returns via a different route to Sherston where post walk refreshment and lunch will be possible at the Rattlebone Inn or one of the local coffee shops.

Route description

This is a relaxing and level stroll from the ancient hilltop village of Sherston following one of the tributaries of the River Avon to Luckington and then on to Alderton.

We pass the grounds of Luckington Court which was featured in the BBC adaption of ‘Pride and Prejudice’ in 1995. There will be an opportunity to visit St Mary with St Ethelbert Luckington (if open).

A break will be taken at the pretty Alderton duck pond, please bring your own drink/snacks.

The walk is taken from the booklet/web-site ‘Sherston Walks’ and also forms a section of the ‘White Walls Way’, a 20 mile circular route starting at Malmesbury.
