Navigation

Start at the sign marking the beginning of the Heart of England Way, opposite the archway at the Noel Arms Hotel, and walk through the archway and out onto George Lane.

Walk up George Lane and continue straight up along the narrow road /path until you reach the main road. Turn left into the field, then immediately right to follow the hedge line. At the end of the hedge, continue straight on up the hill, then take the right fork to Broad Campden.

Pass through the gate and on to a path that crosses a private drive to reach a second gate which leads to a Quaker meeting room before reaching the small church. Turn right along the road to get to the start of the Monarch’s Way just past the Bakers Arms pub.

Opposite the Baker’s Arms pub there are two signed paths 1. Follow the Monarch’s Way (the route allegedly used by Charles II when escaping from Worcester), do not follow the Heart of England Way.

Walk directly up the track to a field gate marked Northwick Estate. Continue through this gate almost to the top of the hill where there is a footpath sign to the left 2. Follow this path, keeping the hedge line on your right, down to a gate. The views from this path can be spectacular.

Turn left after the gate onto the Heart of England Way and follow the path at the top of the slope alongside the fence line through a kissing gate and passing an enclosure bounded by railings. After this enclosure the footpath goes diagonally half right downhill 3 into the trees.

After the trees, veer left and walk directly across the field to a kissing gate in the hedge line and then into the next field via another kissing gate. Walk straight veering slightly to the right. As you come to the brow of the small rise aim for the left side corner of a fence you can see ahead of you.

Follow the fence down, along a wall then turn right at the end of the wall and pass through a field gate back onto the main road, at the Heart of England Way sign.

Turn right on the main road and walk for around 150 metres back to the small church from where you can follow the route back to the centre of Chipping Campden.
