Navigation

With your back to Weston Library turn left and walk along the raised pavement, following it round to the left and uphill to the front of All Saints Church. You are now walking part of the Cotswold Way, a 102-mile National Trail which links Bath to Chipping Campden.

Take the path up four steps to the right of the church, passing through the churchyard and out through a gap in the right-hand boundary wall onto Church Road. Turn left and follow this quiet road up hill.

Follow the Cotswold Way waymarkers up, up, up! Cross a residential street and continue on ahead until you reach a gate 1. Once through the gate, the Cotswold Way bears right. Take the path that forks left and up some more! Follow the path past a bench to another gate, and follow the path with a hedge on your left which leads to a further gate, and then between two fields. Be sure to turn around here and enjoy the view southwards over Bath and the Royal United Hospital.

This leads to the edge of Primrose Hill Community Woodland. This woodland was established in 2000 and contains 45 species of native trees and shrubs. It is now looked after by Primrose Hill Community
Woodland Trust. You can explore a while by going through the large metal gate ahead of you. There are two benches just up ahead.

To start your descent, instead of passing through the gate into the community woodland turn left and follow the path until you meet a gate at the edge of a field 2.

You are now on another long-distance path, the Circuit of Bath which is a 21.5-mile circular of the city. From here you can enjoy a different view towards Kelston Roundhill. Pass through the gate. This field often has cows in calf in so please put all dogs on leads. Head diagonally right down the hill, following the most trodden route to a gate at the top of an enclosed lane. This is Blind Lane and often has water running down it due to a spring at the top. Please take care as you follow it down, first along an unpaved hedged path until it opens out next to a house on your right. Please be very cautious here and use the hand rails provided.

Continue down Blind Lane until it meets ‘The Weal’ 3. Turn left onto ‘The Weal’ to continue downhill. When the road forks, take the left fork onto Trafalgar Road and follow the pavement all the way down to its junction with Church Street, and turn left back to the library.
