Ups and Downs (Commons and Villages) East of Bath
A walk along the footpaths east of Bath up to the ancient commons of Bannerdown and Solsbury Hill, passing through the picturesque villages of Bathford and Batheaston. Bring refreshments and a packed lunch.
The walk starts at Batheaston car park and proceeds to Bathampton Meadows before passing through the picturesque village of Bathford. We then ascend to Bannerdown common before continuing into the beautiful St Catherine’s Valley along a section of the Limestone Link footpath to Northend. The route then climbs to the Iron Age hillfort on Little Solsbury common, where there are magnificent views of Bath, before descending to the village of Batheaston and the starting point. Bus services 3,13,231, and D1x connect Batheaston with Bath city centre, Box, Bradford on Avon, Chippenham and Corsham. Please note Batheaston car park is limited to 3 hours. Alternative parking can be found on London Road East (free) or in the car park of the Batheaston Medical Centre (paid)
