Exploring the Evenlode Valley
Following the Oxfordshire Way along the Evenlode Valley to Shorthampton. Then returning along the ridge past the medieval village of Walcot. Various lunch opportunities in Charlbury after the walk.
The Oxfordshire Way follows the valley of the Evenlode through varied but mostly level countryside. After an opportunity to see the medieval wall paintings in Shorthampton Church we return along the ridge with fine views across the valley and will pass the site of the deserted medieval village of Walcot.

This walk is organised by Cotswold Voluntary Wardens, the voluntary arm of the Cotswolds Conservation Board. These walks offer an interesting and often entertaining way of exploring our wonderful Cotswold countryside and landscape. All walks by the Voluntary Wardens are FREE OF CHARGE however donations are welcome and help us to take care of the countryside.
PLEASE: always remember to wear appropriate footwear because some walks may be steep and muddy in places. Dogs are not allowed on walks, except guide dogs and hearing dogs.
