Jane Johnson Ceramics Exhibition

Jane Johnson creates beautiful textured jugs and watering cans, with an aged, worn look that is tactile and recognizable. Made from slabs of hand rolled clay and textured with familiar patterns, it is sometimes unclear what material these objects are made from… Jane likes to play with form, function and textures linking a garden element with her spouted watering cans that are made to display flowers and her jugs that vary in size from the petite to the capacious designed for the same purpose. Jane graduated with a first class honours degree in Three Dimensional Design and went on to achieve an MA in Ceramics from Bath Spa University. This selling exhibition offers a rare opportunity to view and purchase fine quality, contemporary ceramics.
Entry to the museum’s temporary exhibition space is free.

Distillation and Synthesis Exhibition by Pam Harmer

Drawing is very much the backbone of her work, for research, discovery, preparation and exploration of ideas for sculpture and lettering. Pam’s ideas have evolved in sculpture from the landscape of hills, valleys and woodland in which we live. “Carving the stone is a slow process and one has to work with it. One needs strength and stamina but not brute force, for it is a delicate process. One has to yield to the stone and the stone yields to one” Entry to the museum’s temporary exhibition space is free.

Stroud on Water

The Stroud on Water Festival takes place on 2nd – 4th June 2012, coinciding with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend and the 40th anniversary of the Cotswolds Canals Trust. The Inland Waterways Association’s annual Trailboat Festival will be hosted here and you can expect lots of boats to be on the Stroudwater canal for the first time in over 100 years!

The canal is being restored and the first stretch, from Stonehouse through Stroud, will be starting to look like a proper canal again by the time of the festival.  Why not come to our festival and join in the 40th anniversary celebrations?
